Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing – Top MLM/Network Marketing Review

Bruce Deery asked:

With approximately 2500 MLM companies in the United States, choosing the right one can be a challenging task. If you are intrigued with telecommunications products and services, you have several choices – Lightyear Wireless, 5 Linx, American Communications Network and FHTM. This article is discussing the pros and cons of FHTM.

PROS:

* The company was founded by Paul Orberson of Excel fame in 2001. I believe he still holds an MLM earnings record for earning over $1,000,000.00 per month for an extended period of time. Paul was a major contributor to Excel in helping it reach a billion dollars in revenue in the shortest period of time ever. So, he definitely has the marketing credentials to lead his company.
* The telecom market, and internet markets are huge. Over 80% of the people in the world have telephone, cell phone and internet service.
* The company management has a wealth of experience.
* Though there is not much information on the corporate website about the compensation plan,it appears to be a generous plan.
* The product line is very diversified and includes, wireless plans, telephone plans, high speed internet, satellite TV, security systems, nutrition drinks, weight loss products, and a line of health and beauty products. All of them are consumables and products that most people use everyday.
* The company is debt free and has been since day one. Like most MLM companies it is privately owned and does not have to be accountable to a Board of Directors.
* There are only about 50 MLM companies out of thousands that have lasted 10 or more years
* FHTM is in its tenth year, so that is a good sign of stability.

CON:

* The telecom industry is overcrowded and the competition is fierce.
* Though FHTM presents itself as Partnering with Fortune 500 companies, it is actually an Authorized Reseller for them. They do not actually own any of the products or services that they sell.
* It is probably not a big deal, but the company calls itself a “relationship marketing company”. That term is just another softer way of referring to an MLM or Network Marketing company which often triggers consumers to think of an illegal pyramid scheme.
* Like many large companies they recently have had a number of legal difficulties with Montana, and North Carolina specifically accusing them of running a pyramid scheme. Also they have been forced to defend themselves against a couple of class action suits.
Though the company has grown, they essentially have copy cat products and services and nothing to offer that is really unique.
* It costs $299.00 to join the company with the title of Manager. For another $299.00 you can buy the right to use the title Trainer/Coach which entitles you to earn $40.00 for everybody you train in your down line. In my opinion you should be doing that anyway.
* Lastly, I do not like the fact that the compensation plan has a “breakaway” feature. That means, that if you recruit someone in your down line that becomes a star, they break away from you and you no longer earn overrides on that person’s sales.

I would not join this company, but that does not mean that you should come to the same conclusion. I encourage you to do your own due diligence and draw your own conclusion. However when considering the pros and cons of FHTM, I believe the cons outweigh the pros.
